Synchromesh Body Assembly, Replace (F17 new)
Note: Transmission
remains removed. This operation describes the assembly of the
1st/2nd gear and 3rd/4th gear synchro body assembly. Remove and
install 5th gear synchro body assembly 
 Remove

Remove gearshift cover (1)
|
| 2. |
Remove reversing lamps switch
| • |
Disconnect wiring harness plug for reversing lamp switch
|
| • |
Unscrew reversing lamps switch (2)
|
|
| 3. |
Remove end shield cover (3)
|
|
|
| 7. |
Check synchro body assembly
Note: Remove and
install 5th gear synchro body assembly
| • |
Check the synchro body assembly concerned, replace if
necessary

3rd/4th gear synchromesh body assembly

1st/2nd gear synchromesh body assembly

Install
|
Important: Coat the bearing,
running, seating or pressing surfaces of rotating parts with
transmission fluid. If a synchro body assembly has been completely
dismantled, proceed as follows during assembly:

Assemble synchro body
| • |
Insert synchro body (3) in shift sleeve (2)
|
| • |
Insert sliding blocks (1) and (5)
Note: with the open
side to the synchro body. Insert synchro spring (4) on both sides.
When the spring is correctly installed, the free end points away
from the synchro body (arrow). If necessary rotate synchro spring
180° to install. The end that is turned out hooks into a
sliding block.

Install end shield (1)
Note: Observe the
magnet

Install end shield cover (2)

Install gearshift cover (3)
|
| 14. |
Transmission Fluid Level, Check and Correct
|
| 15. |
Install reversing lamp switch
| • |
insert with new seal ring
|
| • |
Tighten reversing lamp switch (4) 20
Nm
|
| • |
Connect wiring harness plug
|
|
| 16. |
Check ease of gear shifting
|
|
