End Shield Gasket, Replace (F13/F13 MTA/F17/F17
new/ F17+/ F17+ MTA)
Remove
1. |
Remove upper and lower engine covers
|
2. |
Remove shift mechanism cover (1)
|
3. |
Remove and install transmission shift module
|
4. |
Remove reversing lamp switch (3)
|
5. |
Remove front axle body
|
6. |
Remove left engine damping block (2)

From engine damping block main bracket
|
|
7. |
Remove end shield cover
|
8. |
Remove left front protective panelling
|
9. |
Screw in guide pins KM-6155
(arrows)
Note: KM-6155 guides end shield during removal and assembly
in order to prevent damage to the main equipment seal ring.

|
10. |
Lower engine and transmission on engine bridge MKM-883-1 by approx. 5 cm.
|
11. |
Detach end shield from transmission
|
Important: Fluid escapes Place
collecting basin underneath.
|
12. |
Remove end shield
Note: Pay attention to
magnet (2) and spacer washer (1) for reverse idler axle (remove if
necessary).

14. |
Check all parts for damage and wear
|
|
|
Install
15. |
Remove gasket remnants and clean sealing surfaces
|
16. |
Insert new gasket
• |
Stick new gasket to transmission housing sealing surface with
grease
|
|
17. |
Insert end shield into transmission housing
Note: Pay attention to
magnet (2) and spacer washer (1) for reverse idler axle.
|
18. |
Attach end shield to transmission housing
• |
Tighten 4 new bolts (arrows) 22
Nm
|
|
19. |
Remove guide pins KM-6155
|
20. |
Attach end shield cover with new gasket
|
21. |
Lift engine and transmission to installation position
• |
With engine bridge MKM-883-1
|
|
|
|
22. |
Install front axle body
• |
Align engine and transmission unit
|
|
23. |
Install left front protective panelling
|
24. |
Install new bolts for left engine damping block (2)
• |
Tighten new bolts 80 Nm + 60°
– 75°
|
|
25. |
Install reversing lamp switch (3)
|
26. |
Install gearshift cover (1)
|
27. |
Install upper engine cover
Note: If present.
|
|
|
28. |
Check transmission fluid level and correct if necessary
|
29. |
Install lower engine cover
Note: If present.
