Nominal Value

Cause of Fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

·   Ignition OFF

·   Disconnect wiring harness plug from DDE control unit K70

·   Ignition ON

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage

from:      wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 3

to:          ground

lower than 0.1 V

·   Short circuit to voltage

from:      wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 3

to:          wiring harness plug for fuel cutoff solenoid valve Y5 Ter. 1

·   Fuel cutoff solenoid valve Y5 defective

·   Ignition OFF

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance

from:      wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 3

to:          ground

6 to 10 W

lower than 6 W:

·   Short circuit to ground

from:      wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 3

to:          wiring harness plug for fuel cutoff solenoid valve Y5 Ter. 1

·   Fuel cutoff solenoid valve Y5 defective

greater than 10 W:

·   Circuit interruption

from:      wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 3

to:          wiring harness plug for fuel cutoff solenoid valve Y5 Ter. 1

·   Ground contact faulty

from:      fuel cutoff solenoid valve Y5

to:          casing

·   Fuel cutoff solenoid valve Y5 defective

·   Pulse fuel cutoff solenoid valve Y5

from:      battery positive terminal Ter. 30

to:          wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 3

Clicking noise when fuel cutoff solenoid valve Y5 switches

·   Mechanical fault in fuel cutoff solenoid valve Y5

If nominal values are attained

·   DDE control unit K70 defective

Note:

The tests described above are static checks and not real function checks. For this reason, it is possible that the measurements are okay, but that the fuel cutoff solenoid valve still does not function properly. The cause of this may be mechanical faults. Therefore, before replacing the control unit or the fuel cutoff solenoid valve, first perform a mechanical function check (see Service Instructions). If the fuel cutoff solenoid valve still does not function correctly, the control unit or the solenoid valve must then be replaced.
