AR25/35/5 L40-E

Transmission management:
Automatic transmission control unit (TCM).
The control unit is located at right A pillar, accessible from
footwell (on the right as seen from driving position). For
replacement, see "Version Coding" in the section "General
Data".
Note: As of MY '98
automatic transmission AR 25/35 features a "flash-programmable"
control unit (GS 8.20). "Flash-Programming" is performed using TECH
2 according to the same procedure as already used for engine
control units – see current Checking Procedure "AR 25/35
Automatic 4-Speed Transmission Omega-B."
Electrohydraulic components:
Solenoid valve for 1/2 - 3/4 shift (located in main casing)
Solenoid valve for 2/3 shift (located in main casing)
Solenoid for brake band servo (located in main housing)
Solenoid for electrohydraulic pressure control (located in
intermediate housing)
Solenoid for converter clutch (located in intermediate
housing)
Converter with converter clutch:
Outer diameter: 245 mm
Converter bolts – x 6 for petrol engines
Converter bolts – x 3 for diesel engines
Weight – 12.6 kg
Overrunning clutches:
4th unit (OFW) overrunning clutch.
Planetary gear cluster (PFW) overrunning clutch.
Fluid pump:
Design: internal gear pump.

Transmission management:
Automatic transmission control unit (TCM).
The control unit is located in the footwell under the floor
covering. When exchanging refer to "Variant Encoding" in chapter
"General Data".
Note: A
"flash-programmable" control unit is used for the 5 L40-E automatic
transmission. "Flash-Programming is done using TECH 2 – see
current "5 L40-E 5-speed Automatic Transmission" Checking
Procedures.

1/2 shift solenoid (located in transmission housing)
2/3 shift solenoid (located in transmission housing)
4/5 shift solenoid (located in transmission housing)
Electro-hydraulic pressure regulation solenoid (located in
transmission housing)

Converter bolts – x 3 for diesel engines
