Kickdown Actuation, Adjust

Note:   For vehicles with electronic accelerator pedal the kickdown is electronically controlled and cannot be adjusted.

In vehicles with 4 cylinder petrol and V6 engines:

  Remove

Remove retaining clamp (1) from throttle cable bracket.

  Adjust

Align outer sleeve of cable (2) by pulling or pushing in, so that the cable is loose but without play. Insert retaining clamp behind washer.

  Inspect

Kickdown is detected when accelerator pedal is depressed (pressure point).

For vehicles with 25 DT/X 25 DT engine:

  Remove

Turn stop sleeve below pedal by 90° to the left (1) and remove – arrow (2) points towards driving direction.

  Install

Push lower edge of stop sleeve (1) in position "3" (arrow points forwards "4") onto holder (5) until the lower edge of stop sleeve is in area "2".

Install suitable spacer (see example "2") of 7±0.25 mm/2.8±0.01 in. thickness (4), fasten with insulating tape to stop sleeve if necessary.

  Adjust

Push pedal down to kickdown end position "1"; the stop sleeve engages in the correct position. Release pedal and remove spacer. Lock stop sleeve by turning by 90° to the right (3) – arrow (5) points towards driving direction.
