Operating Temperature Program
Vehicles:
All Corsa-B, Tigra, Astra-F, Vectra/Cavalier, Calibra and Omega-B Vehicles with Automatic Transmission
Condition:
There are repeated cases of customer complaints from dealerships referring to "high engine speeds" and "delayed shifting up into next gear" in vehicles with automatic transmission during the "warm-up phase".
Cause:
The operating temperature program, which is integrated into the AT system, automatically delays shifting after a cold start (increased engine speed) to allow the catalytic converter to reach more rapidly the temperature required for optimal emissions reduction.
Remedy:
The operating temperature program is mandatory and likewise cannot be influenced by attempting to reduce the increased engine speed. In the event of this sort of complaint, we request that you and your employees inform the customer about the reasoning behind this program.
Descriptions have already been published in the brochures:
"New Technical Features Model Year 1993" for the AF 13 transmission, "New Technical Features Model Year 1993 1/2" for the AF 22 transmission, "New Technical Features Model Year 1994 1/2" for the AF 20 transmission and "New Technical Features Model Year 1995" for the AR 25/35 transmission in Omega-B.
The Owner's Manuals also refer the "operating temperature program".
