ABS Control Unit, Remove and Install (Vehicles with ABS-415)  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove hydraulic modulator with ABS control unit - see operation "Hydraulic Modulator with ABS Control Unit, Remove and Install (Vehicles with ABS-415)".   Disconnect pump motor wiring harness plug (1) from ABS control unit.   Remove fastening bolts (2). Carefully remove ABS control unit from hydraulic modulator - make sure that coil bracket is not damaged.   Remove gasket between coil body and ABS control unit.     Clean    Remove gasket remnants, clean sealing surfaces.     Install, Connect    Insert new gasket in coil body.

  Install, Connect   

Carefully position ABS control unit on hydraulic modulator.  

  Important!   

Do not tilt ABS control unit when positioning on hydraulic modulator.  

  Install, Connect   

Attach ABS control unit with new bolts to hydraulic modulator.  

Connect pump motor wiring harness plug to ABS control unit.  

Install hydraulic modulator with ABS control unit - see operation "Hydraulic Modulator with ABS Control Unit, Remove and Install (Vehicles with ABS-415)".  

Bleed brake system - see operation "Brake System, Bleed and Check for Leaks".  

Connect diagnostic checking equipment TECH1/TECH1A, check hydraulic modulator fault memory and delete fault memory if necessary. The check can be carried out with TECH1/TECH1A together with the corresponding "Opel/Vauxhall MSC, Vectra-B MY '96" program module - see corresponding Checking Procedures.  

Check function of brakes and ABS during test drive.  

  Tighten (Torque)   

ABS control unit to hydraulic modulator - 6 Nm / 4 lbf. ft., then retighten to 7 Nm / 5 lbf. ft.
