Con-rod Bearing Clearance, Check (Determine Bearing Clearance with Plastigage) > < Crankshaft Bearing Bridge, Remove and Install

 

Con-rod Bearing, Replace  

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove upper part of oil pan - see operation "Oil Pan - Upper Part, Remove and Install".  

For X 20 XEV, C 22 SEL: remove differential (balancer shaft unit) - see operation "Differential (Balancer Shaft Unit), Remove and Install (X 20 XEV, C 22 SEL)".  

Detach oil intake pipe (1) from oil pump and crankshaft bearing bridge, oil baffle plate (2) from crankshaft bearing bridge and crankshaft bearing bridge (3) from cylinder block. Mark order of con-rod bearing caps (4) - beads (5) of con-rod bearing caps point to flywheel side. Remove con-rod bearing caps from con-rod. Press con-rod bearing out of con-rod and con-rod bearing cap.

Clean con-rod bearing journal and con-rod bearing cap.

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Lightly coat new con-rod bearing shells with engine oil and insert into con-rod and con-rod bearing cap. Attach con-rod bearing cap to con-rod with new fastening bolts - tightening torque 35 Nm / 26 lbf. ft. + 45 ° + 15 ° .  

Attach crankshaft bearing bridge to cylinder block - 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.  

For X 20 XEV, C 22 SEL: install differential (balancer shaft unit) - see operation "Differential (Balancer Shaft Unit), Remove and Install (X 20 XEV, C 22 SEL)".  

Connect oil baffle plate to crankshaft bearing bridge - tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.  

Connect oil intake tube with new seal to oil pump - tightening torque 8 Nm / 5.9 lbf. ft.  

Connect oil intake tube to crankshaft bearing bridge - tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.  

Install upper part of oil pan - see operation "Oil Pan - Upper Part, Remove and Install".
