Removing balancer shaft module with oil pump Removing –  Remove sump → Chapter.

–  Pull off chain guard; release retaining tabs, if necessary, through openings -arrows- using a small screwdriver.

–  Set engine to TDC No. 1 cylinder.   Note

Check that there is a mark on balancer shaft chain sprocket which aligns with locking hole -arrow-. If there is no mark, mark position using a waterproof pen. The mark is required for reinstalling.

–  Loosen bolt from oil pump chain sprocket; counterhold on centre bolt of vibration damper.   Caution The balancer shaft drive chain sprocket must not be loosened!

–  Relieve tension on chain guide using a screwdriver -arrow- and lock using a 3 mm Allen key -1-.

–  Remove oil pump chain sprocket and detach chain from balancer shaft gear assembly.

–  Remove baffle plate by removing bolts -1 and 2-.

–  Unscrew balancer shaft module bolts from outside to inside and remove; assembly overview - oil pump with balancer shaft module → Chapter.
