Installing
l  Chain tensioner must be pre-tensioned → Chapter.
   
–  As shown, place intermediate plate onto balancer shaft module dowel sleeves -arrows-.
–  Install oil pump with balancer shaft module and intermediate plate. Replace bolts for balancer shaft module.

–  Tighten bolts in 3 stages as follows:
1.  Hand-tighten until stop is reached.
2.  Tighten bolts to 15 Nm in diagonal sequence, working from inside outwards.
3.  Tighten 90° further in diagonal sequence, working from inside outwards.

Note different bolt lengths → Fig.

–  Set engine to TDC No. 1 cylinder.
  A13-0076
–  Align marking on balancer shaft chain sprocket -arrow- with fixing hole.
  N17-10238
–  In this position, lock chain sprocket using locking pin -T10027-. Place chain on balancer shaft chain sprocket.
–  Install oil pump chain sprocket and tighten bolt by hand.
  Note
The oil pump chain sprocket can only be installed correctly in one position. For installation, only the oil pump may be turned.
  N17-10060
–  Remove locking pin -T10027- and Allen key -1-. Secure oil pump chain sprocket (torque setting: 20 Nm + (90°) further). Counterhold on centre bolt of vibration damper.
–  Install sump → Chapter.
Further assembly is basically the reverse of the dismantling sequence.
