Shift Cable: Procedures

Shift Lever Cable, Checking 

To check the shift lever cable for ease of movement, the shift lever cable must be removed from the transmission and the removed end must be set
aside so that it does not make contact anywhere.

Then, the shift lever is moved and the cable is installed again.

Then, the shift lever cable must be adjusted.

Do not grease cable connection!

Place the shift lever in the PARK (P) position.

Pry the cable - 1 - off the shift rod lever - 3 - using an open end wrench - 2 -.

Remove the cable from the bracket by pressing the tabs together - arrows -.

-

Move the shift lever from the PARK (P) position to the SPORT (S) position and back to the PARK (P) position several times.

The shift lever must have freedom of movement while doing so.

-

Install the cable again.

Adjust the cable!
