Radio navigation system (RNS)
Removing and installing radio/navigation system

Note:

  • ◆ The part number for the complete Radio/Navigation system is printed on a sticker on the radio/navigation system housing!
  • ◆ If an RNS unit from a vehicle is fitted into a different vehicle, it is essential that the part number of the replacement unit is the same as the unit previously installed. Otherwise faults will occur with the navigation as the turn angle sensor adjustment in the RNS unit will not be compatible for the vehicle.
  • ◆ If the radio navigation unit is renewed or replaced, adapt the tyre circumference to improve accuracy of the radio/navigation system. Adapting components, navigation system .
  • ◆ If the RNS unit is replaced by a new part or exchange part the new unit is coded ex factory with the setting "with control unit for traffic information". If the vehicle has no traffic information control unit, the fault "00481" is set on these vehicles. Please select on these vehicles the setting "without control unit for traffic information" via the adaption function, Adaption => Page 01-184 .

Note:

For new units radio information control unit adaption is performed via the navigation system coding, => Coding navigation system, => Page 01-166 .
