Assembly overview - brake servo/brake master cylinder
Complete brake master cylinders and brake servos can be renewed independently of each other.
1 - Brake fluid level warning contact -F34-
2 - Cap
3 - Vacuum hose
q   Including non-return valve.
4 - Pressure sensor
q   Only in vehicles with start-stop system.
5 - Brake fluid reservoir
6 - Sealing plug
7 - Brake servo
q   On petrol engines, the required vacuum is obtained at the intake connecting piece.
q   Checking function
–  With engine switched off, depress brake pedal firmly several times (to exhaust vacuum in unit).
–  Now step on and hold brake pedal with medium pressure and start engine. If the brake servo is functioning properly, the brake pedal will be felt to go down as the servo takes effect.
q   Renew completely in the event of a fault. Before doing so, check brake servo vacuum system → Chapter.
q   Non-return valve (in vacuum hose) functional check → Chapter.
q   Separating from brake pedal → Chapter
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
8 - Seal
q   For brake servo.
9 - Self-locking hexagon nut, 25 Nm
q   Always renew after removing.
10 - Sealing ring
q   Renew.
11 - Brake master cylinder
q   Cannot be repaired. If faulty, renew as a complete unit.
12 - Brake light switch -F-
q   Including brake pedal switch -F47-.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
13 - Torx bolt, 7 Nm
14 - Self-locking hexagon nut, 23 Nm
q   Always renew after removing.
15 - Torx bolt, 8 Nm
16 - Sealing plug
q   Moisten with brake fluid and press into brake master cylinder.
