Disconnecting and reconnecting battery
Battery recharging or jump start on vehicles with start/stop system:
When recharging or jump starting vehicles with start/stop system, note the following: first connect charging cable to battery positive terminal, then body earth. This ensures that the battery sensor is not bridged. The direct charging of the battery on the negative terminal clamp means that the battery sensor is shunted and the battery data are not registered by the sensor while charging. The values concerning the battery state saved in the data bus diagnostic interface do not then correspond to the values of the charged battery.
  WARNING
Danger of injury! Comply with the warning notices and safety regulations → Anchor!
Disconnecting battery
  Note
t  By disconnecting the battery earth wire (open circuit), safety is ensured when carrying out work on the electrical system.
t  The battery positive wire need only be disconnected for removal of the battery.
–  Switch off ignition and all electrical loads, and pull out ignition key.
–  Fold up cover (if fitted) of earth wire on battery terminal clamp.

–  First, undo the nut of earth wire battery terminal clamp -1- and pull terminal clamp off battery negative terminal.
  N27-11012
–  Fold up cover of E-box -1- and remove nut -2-.
–  Release the catches -arrows- on each side of the E-box holder and remove E-Box together with holder upwards off the battery.
  N27-11013
–  Then undo the nut of battery terminal clamp for positive cable -1- and pull terminal clamp -2- off battery positive terminal.
