Coat rear sealing face of housing with liquid sealing compound (liquid gasket), P/N 1161409-6.

Apply bead approx. 2 mm thick. Also apply compound around bolt holes.

Reinstall housing (six bolts).
NOTE: Ensure that spacer is in position on output shaft.

Apply thread sealing compound to bolts. Tighten diagonally to 34 Nm (25 ft lb).

Attach torque strut to gear selector unit with washer and snap ring

Install drive flange Install washers (two).

Install new 0-ring in flange. Grease 0-ring lightly with Vaseline or ATF fluid.

Install new nut using locking fluid, P/N 1161053-2 or 1161054-0. Use counterhold 999 5149 and tighten nut to 123 Nm (91 ft lb).

Further secure nut by deforming (upsetting).

Reassemble propeller shaft with drive flange using new bolts and nuts. Tighten diagonally to 50 Nm (37 ft lb).

Ensure that propeller shaft and drive flange mating faces are clean and free of grease. Use special tool 999 5244.
