Axle Shaft Assembly: Removal and Replacement

Intermediate Shaft Removal
1. Drain the transmission fluid, then reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer See: Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Service and
Repair/Removal and Replacement/ATF Replacement.
2. Remove exhaust pipe A See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Exhaust System/Exhaust Pipe/Service and Repair.
3. Remove the right front driveshaft See: Front Driveshaft Removal.
4. Remove the rear warm up three way catalytic converter (rear WU-TWC) bracket (A).
5. Remove the flange bolt (A) and the two dowel bolts (B).
6. Remove the intermediate shaft (A) from the differential. Hold the intermediate shaft horizontally until it is clear of the differential to prevent
damaging the oil seal (B).
