I01 Side lights/number plate lights not working

With the ignition key in the ON position, when the steering column switch unit ring nut is operated, the side lights or the number plate lights do not work and this fault is indicated by the light failure warning light.

0	PRELIMINARY CHECKS Check the oepration of the light check device. If the side lights or number plate lights do not work, the light failure warning light comes on.	OK	Move onto step 1

1	CHECK INDIVIDUAL LIGHTS Check the condition of the individual bulbs and the bulb holder assembly	OK	Move onto step 2

		Rear lights cluster faulty	Repair or replace the rear lights clusterOp. 5540A80 End of diagnosis

2	SIDE LIGHTS ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT CHECK connections between the ignition switch and the stalk unit the connection between the stalk unt and the rev counter connections between the rev counter and bulbs bulbs earth (Wiring diagram E2010 SIDE LIGHTS / NUMBER PLATE ).	OK	Move onto step 3
2		Connections broken	Restore the connections ( End of diagnosis
3	STEERING COLUMN SWITCH UNIT CHECK Check the stalk unit is working properly: in particular, check the side light switch see DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION: 5550A Stalk unit (see 5550AF)	OK	Move onto step 4
3		Stalk unit not working properly	Replace the steering column switch unit Op. 5550A12 End of diagnosis
4	CHECK IGNITION SWITCH Check that the side lights come on when the ignition key is turned in the opposite direction	OK	Move onto step 5
4		Ignition switch faulty	Renew or replace the ignition switch Op. 5520A10 End of diagnosis
5	CHECK CORRECT OPERATION Check that the fault is no longer present	OK	End of diagnosis
