Scrapping self-levelling units

Before sending Nivomat self-levelling units to be scrapped, it is necessary and a duty to de-pressurize them.

Under normal conditions, the internal pressure in the Nivomat units is 25 bar.

If they are scrapped without being depressurized, the units could explode and could cause serious injury to people and damage to objects nearby.

To depressurize Nivomat self-levelling units, two small holes must be drilled in the areas shown in the figure, corresponding to the high-pressure (1) and low-pressure (2) chambers. The holes must have a diameter of 1 mm and depth of at least 8 mm.

Because of the high internal pressure, a mixture of fluid and gas will be sprayed from the holes, so it is advisable to carry out the drilling operation behind a protective shield.

NOTE:

The self-levelling unit is depressurized when the stem can be pushed with one hand.
