About the 5000
The 5000 was the North American name for the second and third generations (C2 and C3) of the Audi 100, sold from 1978 to 1988. The C3 of 1982 had a remarkably low drag coefficient for its time, 0.30, helped by flush side windows. The range was renamed the Audi 100 in North America for 1989.
What these manuals cover
- 1982–1984: the 2.14-litre five-cylinder, with and without a turbo, and the 2.0-litre turbo diesel five.
- 1985–1988: the 2.22-litre five and its turbo, the 2.3-litre five from 1988, and quattro versions of the sedan and wagon.
Tip: the two-letter code in brackets is the engine code, which changed when the five-cylinder grew from 2.14 to 2.22 and then 2.3 litres. The Audi 100 manuals continue from 1989.
