Removing and installing steering angle senderG85
Removing and installing steering angle sender -G85-
The steering column electronics control unit -J527- incorporates the airbag coil connector and return ring with slip ring -F138- and the steering angle sender -G85-.
Removing
  Note
The airbag coil connector and return ring with slip ring -F138- must be removed and installed with the steering wheel in the centre position (wheels straight ahead).
–  Remove driver's airbag → Rep. gr.69.
–  Remove steering wheel → Rep. gr.48.
–  Remove steering column trim → Rep. gr.68
   
–  Remove airbag coil connector and return ring with slip ring -F138--2- from switch module -3- → Rep. gr.94.
  WARNING
The return ring with slip ring must not be rotated following removal.
Installing
–  Attach airbag coil connector and return ring with slip ring -F138--2- to switch module -3- → Rep. gr.94.
–  Install steering column trim → Rep. gr.68.
–  Install steering wheel → Rep. gr.48.
–  Install driver's airbag → Rep. gr.69.
–  Then perform zero position compensation for steering angle sender.
–  With ignition switched off, connect vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051 x- to diagnostic connection in vehicle.
  Note
t  Switch on ignition.
t  Event memory interrogated, displayed faults rectified and event memory erased.
–  Start the corresponding routine in the Guided Functions.
