  Note
t  Every time after changing the brake pads, depress the brake pedal firmly several times with the vehicle stationary, so that the pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
t  Use the brake filling and bleeding equipment -VAS 5234- or the extraction unit -V.A.G 1869/4- to draw off brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir.
t  Before removing a brake caliper or disconnecting a brake hose, fit brake pedal actuator -V.A.G 1869/2- (when doing this, release pressure in system).
   
1 - Wheel bearing housing
q   With integrated brake carrier
2 - Bolt
q   9 Nm
3 - Speed sensor
q   Before inserting sensor, clean inner surface of hole and apply high-temperature paste G 052 112 A3
4 - Wheel hub
q   Removing and installing → Rep. gr.40
5 - Splash plate
6 - Bolt for splash plate
q   12 Nm
7 - Brake disc
q   Wear limit → Chapter
q   Always renew on both sides of axle
q   Detach brake caliper prior to removing
q   Do not force brake discs off wheel hub; if necessary, use rust remover, otherwise brake discs could be damaged.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
8 - Bolt
q   5 Nm
9 - Brake pads
q   Wear limit → Chapter
q   Checking thickness → Booklet
q   Always renew on both sides of axle
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
10 - Brake carrier
  Note
The brake carrier cannot be renewed.
11 - Brake caliper
q   Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Renewing brake caliper → Chapter
12 - Brake line
q   With locating element
q   35 Nm
Make sure the brake hose is routed correctly. The brake hose must not be kinked or crushed or chafe against the body at any point
q   Note installation position
13 - Guide pin
q   30 Nm
14 - Protective cap
q   Detach when removing guide pins

Installation position of brake hose on brake caliper
  Note
   
Make sure groove in banjo union of brake hose is inserted on locating pin -arrow-.
  A46-0230
