Removing and installing the step-up gear/temperature flap
Removing and installing the step-up gear/temperature flap
–  Remove the driver's storage compartment: → General Body Repairs, Interior; Repair group 68
   
–  Remove the bolts -A- and -B-.
–  Remove the bracket -C-.

–  Press back the retainer tab -A- and detach the shaft -B- from the step-up gear / temperature flap.

–  Release the catch -A- and remove the step-up gear.
  Note
t  During installation, insert the step-up gear into the mounts -B- first and then join the two levers -C- and -D- together.
t  After installing the shaft, check the function and freedom of movement of the temperature setting controller.

t  The base plate of the heater controls is fitted with a step-up gear. One turn of the rotary knobs for temperature setting -B- or air distribution -A- causes the flexible shaft to turn twice.
t  If the check reveals that the installation of the shaft is not OK:
t  Detach the shaft again.
t  Give the temperature setting rotary knob half a turn (180°).
t  Reattach the shaft and check the function again.
