  Note
t  Before renewing the master or slave cylinder on the assumption that it is defective you must first check the clutch mechanism → Chapter.
t  Disconnect battery earth strap.
t  Note radio coding for vehicles with coded radio.
t  Apply polycarbamide grease -G 052 142 A2- to all bearings and contact surfaces.
t  Make sure that no brake fluid escapes into the footwell, the plenum chamber or onto the gearbox below. If this does happen, clean the affected area thoroughly.
t  When performing work in the footwell, put cloths on the carpet to protect it from possible brake fluid spills.
t  Before working on pedal cluster, remove driver's storage compartment → Rep. Gr.68.
