Removing and installing poly V-belt for power steering pump, alternator and viscous fan Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Locking pin -T10060- or -T10060 A-

Removing –  Remove radiator cowl → Chapter. –  Remove nuts -arrows- on stop for torque reaction support.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove torque reaction support together with stop for torque reaction support.

–  Detach cover from tensioning roller of air conditioner compressor.   Note Before removing, mark direction of rotation of poly V-belt with chalk or felt-tipped pen. If the belt runs in the opposite direction when it is refitted, this can cause breakage. –  Slacken off bolt -arrow- of tensioning roller for air conditioner compressor and detach poly V-belt for air conditioner compressor.   Note

If the belt runs in the opposite direction when it is refitted, this can cause breakage. –  To slacken poly V-belt, use an Allen key to turn tensioner in direction of -arrow- until the two bores align and locking pin -T10060- or -T10060 A- can be inserted. –  Detach poly V-belt for power steering pump, alternator and viscous fan.

Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: –  Fit poly V-belt for power steering pump, alternator and viscous fan onto crankshaft pulley first, then on idler rollers and finally on tensioning roller.

–  Remove locking pin -T10060- or -T10060 A-; to do so, turn Allen key in direction of -arrow-.

–  Fit poly V-belt for air conditioner compressor. –  Apply torque wrench -C- with 8 mm hexagon key socket as shown and pretension poly V-belt to 7 Nm by turning in direction of -arrow-. –  At the same time, use torque wrench to tighten bolt -A-. –  Press on cover for tensioning roller. –  Install radiator cowl → Chapter. –  Start engine and check that belt runs properly.

–  Fit torque reaction support together with stop for torque reaction support and tighten bolts -arrows-.

–  Allow stop for torque reaction support to rest on rubber buffer for torque reaction support under its own weight and tighten nuts -arrows-. Tightening torques
