Removing and installing thermostat

Removing   Caution Observe notes on procedure for disconnecting the battery → Rep. Gr.27. –  Disconnect earth wire at battery with ignition switched off. –  Drain coolant → Chapter. –  Remove air hose -1-.   Note Disregard -item 2-.

–  To slacken poly V-belt turn tensioner in direction of -arrow-. –  Remove poly V-belt from the alternator pulley and release tensioner.

–  Lock pulley for viscous fan with roll-pin drift -1- and unscrew using hexagon key -2-. –  Detach viscous fan forwards off bearing and place it in radiator cowl. –  Remove alternator → Rep. Gr.27.

–  Remove support for intake manifold -arrows-.

–  Release retaining clip and detach coolant hose from connection -2-. –  Remove bolts -1-, and detach connection, O-ring -3- and thermostat -4-. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note Renew O-ring. –  Clean and smoothen sealing surface for O-ring. –  Insert thermostat. t  Installation position: Cross-piece on thermostat should be vertical. –  Lubricate O-ring with coolant additive “G12+”. –  Install alternator → Rep. Gr.27. –  Install viscous fan → Chapter. –  Install poly V-belt → Chapter. –  Observe notes on procedure for connecting the battery → Rep. Gr.27. –  Fill up with coolant → Anchor. Tightening torques
