Removing:

  • ‒ → Remove noise insulation -arrows-.
  • ‒ Remove bumper

=> General body repairs; Repair group 63; Front bumper; Removing and installing front bumper

  • ‒ Move lock carrier to service position

=> General body repairs; Repair Group 50; Removing and installing lock carrier; Service position of lock carrier

  • ‒ → Remove viscous fan (counter-hold with pin wrench 3212).

Note:

Viscous fan has left-hand thread: turn in direction indicated.

 
A15-0062
  • ‒ Mark direction of rotation of ribbed belt.
  • ‒ → To slacken ribbed belt, turn to the right using a 17 mm ring spanner until the two holes are aligned with each other -arrow- and hold in position with mandrel 3204.

Note:

Mark the direction of rotation of the ribbed belt with chalk or felt pen before removing. A used belt can break if it rotates in the opposite direction when refitted.

  • ‒ Take off ribbed belt.

Installing:

  • ‒ → Fit ribbed belt onto crankshaft pulley and idler wheel first, and push belt onto tensioning roller last.

Routing of ribbed belt

  • ◆ D1 - vehicles without air conditioner
  • ◆ D2 - vehicles with air conditioner
  • ‒ Take out mandrel 3204.
 
A10-0630
  • ‒ → Counterhold viscous fan pulley using pin wrench 3212 and secure viscous fan using open-end spanner 3312 and torque wrench 1331 (left-hand thread).

Note:

Viscous fan has left-hand thread: turn in direction indicated.

  • ‒ Install lock carrier in normal position

=> General body repairs, Exterior; Repair Group 50; Body front, Lock carrier in service position

  • ‒ Install bumper

=> General body repairs, Exterior; Repair group 63; Front bumper; Removing and installing front bumper - Assembly overview

  • ‒ Install noise insulation.
