Removing and installing coolant pipe (rear)

Removing   Note All cable ties which are released or cut open when removing must be fitted in the same position when installing. –  Drain off coolant from engine → Chapter. –  Remove intake manifold → Chapter. –  Remove crankcase breather hose -arrows-.

–  Unplug electrical connector -2- at coolant temperature display sender -G2-/coolant temperature sender -G62-. –  Unscrew power steering pressure pipe at coolant pipe (rear) -1-.

Vehicles with secondary air system: –  Disconnect hose -arrow- from secondary air connecting pipe.

–  Disconnect vacuum hose -4- at combination valve for secondary air system. –  Remove bolts -3-. –  Unscrew bolt -1- for connecting pipe bracket. –  Unscrew bolt at front right of connecting pipe. All models: –  Unscrew bolts -2- on coolant pipe.

–  Detach coolant hose -3-. –  Disconnect coolant hose from rear coolant pipe (hose leads to heat exchanger for heater). Vehicles with secondary air system: –  Disconnect vacuum hose -1- at combination valve for secondary air system. –  Unscrew hose connection -4-. –  Remove bolt -5-. –  Unscrew bolts -2- and take off connecting pipe for secondary air system. –  Unscrew bolts -7- and take off combination valve for secondary air system. All models: –  Move wiring clear of rear coolant pipe. –  Remove the 2 bolts -6- at rear coolant pipe and detach coolant pipe. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note t  Renew gaskets, seals and O-rings. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue. t  Fit all cable ties in the original positions when installing. –  Before installing, clean and smooth down sealing surfaces for O-rings as required. –  Lubricate new O-ring with “G12+” and slide onto coolant pipe. –  Install intake manifold → Anchor. –  Fill cooling system → Anchor. Tightening torques
