Dismantling and assembling selector mechanism
  Note
t  Removing and installing securing spring for locking cable → Fig..
t  If selector gate or selector housing are defective the entire selector mechanism has to be renewed. The two components cannot be adjusted using workshop tools.

Dismantling
–  Shift selector lever to position “S”.
–  Remove selector lever lock solenoid -N110--item 7- → Chapter.
–  Unbolt and then unclip selector gate -12- from selector housing -14-.
–  Release pivot pins -5- and -19- and pull them out sideways.
–  Unclip retainers -2- and -16-.
–  Pull off retaining clip -17-.
–  Swivel locking lever -11- upwards as far as it will go.
–  Pull selector lever -6- together with bushes -3- and -15- and tiptronic locking levers -4- and -18- downwards out of selector housing -14-.
   

Assembling
–  Make sure that selector lever is still in position “S”.
–  Swivel locking lever -11- upwards as far as it will go.
–  Insert selector lever -6- into selector housing -14- from below.
–  Fit tiptronic locking levers -4- and -18- and bushes -3- and -15- onto selector lever.
–  Push selector lever -6- together with bushes into selector lever housing -14- and position with retaining clip -17-.
–  Engage retainers -2- and -16- on selector housing.
–  Press pivot pins -5- and -19- into selector lever -6- until they engage.
–  Check that the pivot pins are engaged in the tiptronic locking lever.
–  Install selector lever lock solenoid -N110--item 7- → Chapter.
–  Clip selector gate -12- onto selector housing -14- and tighten to 0.4 Nm.
   
Removing and installing securing spring for locking cable
Removing
–  To remove locking cable, lift spring slightly at the top -arrow B-.
–  Disengage spring from retainer lug -arrow C- and lift out.
Installing
–  Insert spring from above -arrow B- and engage under retainer lug -arrow C-.
–  Align spring so that it lies level in groove -arrow A-.
–  To install locking cable, lift spring slightly at the top -arrow B-.
