Removing and installing belt height adjuster
Removing and installing belt height adjuster
  Note
Removal and installation are identical on the left and right.
   
Removing
–  Operate belt height adjustment button and move belt height adjustment slide to bottom position.
–  Remove B-pillar trim (top) → Chapter.
–  Move B-pillar trim (top) to side with belt inserted.
–  Remove bolt -3-.
–  Detach guide fitting -2- with belt -1-.
–  Remove bolt -5-.
–  Lift belt height adjuster -4- off B-pillar.

Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
–  If components of the belt system are removed following an accident, renew the securing bolts for the belt system.
  Note
t  When supplied as replacement parts, belt height adjusters always are supplied with a belt height adjustment slide and are set to the bottom detent position (assembly position).
t  If belt height adjusters are removed and re-fitted, they must be set to bottom detent position (assembly position).
–  Engage belt height adjuster -4- in B-pillar.
–  Tighten bolt -5-.
–  Install guide fitting -2- and tighten bolt -3-.
  Note
t  Do not operate belt height adjustment button when fitting B-pillar trim (top).
t  Make sure belt height adjuster is in bottom position.

–  Make sure mounting -3- of slide of B-pillar trim (top) -1- engages in retaining pin -4- at belt height adjuster.
–  Install B-pillar trim (top) -1- → Chapter, paying attention to belt -2-.
Belt height adjuster as replacement part:
–  After fitting B-pillar trim (top), press slide firmly upwards.
l  This will release belt height adjuster from assembly position.
All belt height adjusters (continued):
–  Check operation.
The following functions must be tested successfully:
t  Belt height adjuster must engage audibly in each of the five possible positions (including top position).
t  Belt height adjustment button must always automatically return to top position whenever it has been operated.
t  After tightening bolt, guide fitting must settle automatically in vertical position or in fastening direction.
If any of the listed functions is not OK, check installation of belt height adjuster and renew adjuster if necessary.
