Unfastening and tightening air conditioner compressor drive shaft
Unfastening and tightening air conditioner compressor drive shaft
  Note
t  Extensive preparation is required before the air conditioner compressor drive shaft can be unfastened → Chapter (Removing and installing air conditioner compressor on vehicles with 8-cyl. FSI engine).
t  The drive shaft can also be checked and tightened without opening the refrigerant circuit → Chapter (Removing and installing air conditioner compressor - vehicles with 8-cyl. FSI engine)
Unfastening drive shaft
–  Remove the components impeding access to the drive shaft → Chapter (Removing and installing air conditioner compressor - vehicles with 8-cyl. FSI engine).
   
–  Use an open-ended spanner to hold the air conditioner compressor drive shaft -A- in position and turn the air conditioner compressor drive unit -B- in arrow direction -C-.
  Note
t  The drive shaft -A- is not to be turned.
t  After unfastening the screw connection, the drive shaft -A- can be pushed through the socket -E- into the drive gear.
t  After fitting the drive shaft -A-, check the installation position of the socket -E-.
Tightening drive shaft
–  Use an open-ended spanner to hold the air conditioner compressor drive shaft -A- in position and turn the air conditioner compressor drive unit -B- in arrow direction -D- (tightening torque 60 Nm).
–  After tightening the air conditioner compressor drive shaft, check the installation position of the socket -E-.
