Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782-
  W00-10211
t  Engine bung set -VAS 6122-
  W00-10435
Removing
  Note
→ Chapter „Rules for cleanliness when working on the dual clutch gearbox“.
–  Remove noise insulation panels -1- and -2- → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66.

–  Place used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782- below connections.
–  Mark connections between ATF line/hose assemblies and ATF lines for re-installation.
–  Unscrew union nuts -1- and -2-.
–  Remove bolts -arrows- for ATF lines.

Vehicles with in-line ATF filter:
–  Remove bolt -arrow- and detach ATF line -1- from gearbox.
  Note
If in-line ATF filter is not being removed, ATF line to in-line ATF filter -2- does not have to be disconnected.
–  Seal off open lines and connections with clean plugs from engine bung set -VAS 6122-.

–  Remove bolt -1-.
–  Pull out retaining clip -arrow- and disconnect ATF line from in-line ATF filter.
  Note
Disregard -item 2- if not removing in-line ATF filter.
–  Seal off open lines and connections with clean plugs from engine bung set -VAS 6122-.
–  Detach ATF lines.

Vehicles with exchangeable ATF filter:
–  Remove bolt -arrow- and detach ATF lines -1, 2- from gearbox.
–  Seal off open lines and connections with clean plugs from engine bung set -VAS 6122-.
–  Detach ATF lines.
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse sequence; note the following:
l  Tightening torques → Chapter „Exploded view - ATF cooler, ATF lines and in-line ATF filter“
l  → Chapter „Exploded view - ATF cooler, ATF lines and exchangeable ATF filter“
  Note
Renew O-rings
  Caution
Risk of damage to gearbox
t  All plugs from engine bung set -VAS 6122- which were inserted in ATF lines and gearbox when dismantling must be removed.
t  If you forget to remove the plugs, the ATF cooling will be ineffective and the gearbox will be damaged.
–  First press ATF lines onto gearbox and cooler by hand until they engage, then bolt on.
–  Press retaining clip onto connection between ATF line and in-line ATF filter and then pull to check that retaining clip has engaged properly.
–  Check ATF level and top up as required → Chapter.
–  Install noise insulation panels → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66.
