Guided Functions for gearbox
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle diagnostic tester
Procedure:
l  Vehicle diagnostic tester is connected.
–  Using diagnostic tester in Guided Functions mode, select 02 - Gearbox electronics, functions and then select the appropriate „Guided Function“.
Requirements:
l  It is important to follow all the instructions given by the diagnostic tester exactly in order to complete the „Guided Function“ successfully.
The appropriate „Guided Function“ must be performed on the diagnostic tester after the following operations:
1 - Renewing shift unit: 02 - Basic setting (Rep. Gr. 34) → Anchor
2 - Repair work on selector lever cable, including adjustment of selector lever cable: 02 - Basic setting (Rep. Gr. 34) → Anchor
3 - Renewing mechatronic unit for dual clutch gearbox -J743- with automatic gearbox control unit -J217-: 02 - Replace control unit/mechatronics (Rep. Gr. 34) → Anchor
4 - Renewing dual clutch: 02 - Basic setting (Rep. Gr. 34) → Anchor
5 - Changing gear oil on vehicles with gearbox oil temperature sender 2 -G754- (Audi RS 5): 02 - Reset temperature counter (G754) (Rep.-Gr. 34) → Anchor

1. Renewing shift unit
  Note
→ Chapter „Removing and installing shift unit“
The following steps are necessary after performing this work:
–  In Guided Functions mode, select 02 - Gearbox electronics, functions and then select „Guided Function“02 - Basic setting (Rep.-Gr. 34).
–  Select basic setting Calibration of gear sensor -G676- and follow instructions on diagnostic tester.

5. Gear oil change (Audi RS 5)
t  For vehicles with gearbox oil temperature sender 2 -G754--1-, the gear oil (MTF) must be changed after a specified change interval (specified number of km) → ELSA maintenance tables.
t  On these vehicles the gearbox oil temperature is monitored additionally by the gearbox oil temperature sender 2 -G754-. If a high gearbox oil temperature is registered over a certain period of time, an internal counter in the automatic gearbox control unit -J217- is incremented. If the normal temperature parameters are exceeded a specified number of times, an entry is made in the event memory of the gearbox control unit, and the gear oil (MTF) must also be changed.
In both cases, a „Guided Function“ must be performed to reset the internal counter in the automatic gearbox control unit -J217- after a gear oil change.
  Note
Always switch off ignition before unplugging connector at gearbox oil temperature sender 2 -G754-. If the ignition is on, the gearbox reverts to a backup programme. This increments the counter for high temperature operation, and after 10 minutes an entry is recorded in the event memory of the automatic gearbox control unit -J217-.
Procedure:
–  In Guided Functions mode, select 02 - Gearbox electronics, functions and then select „Guided Function“02 - Reset temperature counter (G754) (Rep.-Gr. 34).
