Special tools and workshop equipment required

Removing
  Note
Rules for cleanliness when working on the automatic gearbox → Chapter.
–  Remove noise insulation panels → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66.
  Note
  A10-10823
Place a cloth below the connection to catch escaping ATF.
–  Remove union nuts -arrows-.
  A37-11021
–  Place used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782- below gearbox.
–  Mark connections between ATF line/hose assemblies and ATF lines for re-installation.
–  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and detach ATF lines from gearbox.
–  Seal off open lines and connections with clean plugs from engine bung set -VAS 6122-.
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse sequence; note the following:
l  Tightening torques → Chapter „Exploded view - ATF lines, ATF cooler and ATF filter“
  Caution
Risk of damage to gearbox
t  All plugs inserted in ATF lines and gearbox when dismantling must be removed.
t  If you forget to remove the plugs, the ATF cooling will be ineffective and the gearbox will be damaged.
–  Check ATF level and top up as required → Chapter.
