Removing and installing ATF lines - vehicles with 2.0 ltr. TDI engine or 6-cylinder engine

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782-

t	Engine bung set -VAS 6122-

Removing

Note

Rules for cleanliness when working on the automatic gearbox → Chapter.

l	Gearbox removed

Note

Place a cloth below the connection to catch escaping ATF.

–	Remove union nuts -arrows- and detach ATF lines.

–	Seal off open lines and connections with clean plugs from engine bung set -VAS 6122-.

Installing

Installation is carried out in reverse sequence; note the following:

l	Tightening torques → Chapter „Exploded view - ATF lines, ATF cooler and ATF filter“

Caution

Risk of damage to gearbox

t	All plugs inserted in ATF lines and gearbox when dismantling must be removed.

t	If you forget to remove the plugs, the ATF cooling will be ineffective and the gearbox will be damaged.

–	After gearbox has been installed, check and correct ATF level → Chapter.
