Rear Knuckle: Removal and Replacement
Wheel Bearing Housing

Wheel Bearing Housing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque wrench (5-50 Nm) (VAG 1331)

‹› Torque wrench (40-200 Nm) (VAG 1332)

Removing

-

Place the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on the Hoist and on its Wheels ] See: Service and Repair/Procedures/Positioning
Vehicle on the Hoist and on its Wheels.

Remove the bolt from the drive axle. Refer to => [ Drive Axle ] .

Remove the brake caliper wiring harness connector - 1 - from the retainer and disconnect it.

Remove the bolt from the speed sensor bracket - 2 -. Remove the speed sensor from the wheel bearing housing.

Remove the brake caliper and secure it on the body.

‹› Secure the brake caliper to the body with wire.

‹› Do not allow the brake caliper to hang from the brake line.

Remove the brake carrier bolts - 1 - and the brake disc.
