Piston rings for camshaft adjuster

‹› Install with gaps offset by 120°

‹› Oil contact surfaces

‹› When installing, only spread piston rings minimally

5 Nm plus an additional 45° (1/8 turn)

‹› Observe tightening sequence: Right cylinder head => [ Cylinder bank 1 (right) ] See: Camshafts, left cylinder head => [ Cylinder bank 2 (left) ]

‹› Mark bearing caps 6 and 9

Intake camshaft

‹› Check radial clearance using Plastigage (roller rocker lever removed)

‹› Radial clearance wear limit: 0.1 mm

‹› Run-out: Max. 0.01 mm

‹› Identification => [ Camshaft identification cylinder bank 1 (right) ] and => [ Camshaft identification cylinder bank 2 (left) ]

Exhaust camshaft
