Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383/A) with universal mounting (V.A.G 1359/2)

‹› Counter-hold tool (3028)

‹› Drive flange fitting appliance (VW 391)

‹› Multi propose tool (VW 771)

‹› Extractor hook (VW771/37)

‹› Drift (3026)

‹› Drift sleeve (VAS 3143)

‹› Torque wrench (VAG1331) (or equivalent)

‹› Torque wrench (VAG1332) (or equivalent)

Removing

‹› Rear final drive installed

Remove rear section of exhaust system (rearward of exhaust pipe clamp(s)):

-

Remove bolts - arrows - and remove bottom cover.

Check whether there is a factory marking (paint) on driveshaft. If not, mark position of CV joint - arrow A - in relation to rear final drive - arrow
B - with paint.
