With 4.2L FSI
Removing
‹› When installing, reinstall all cable ties that were loosened or cut during removal in the same locations.

With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) wire. Refer to => [ Battery Disconnecting and Reconnecting ] See: Battery/Service
and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Battery Disconnecting and Reconnecting.

Drain coolant.

Remove primary catalytic converter.

Remove right coolant pipe.

Remove generator. Refer to => [ With 4.2L FSI ] See: Charging System/Alternator/Service and Repair/Generator.

Remove oil cooler. Refer to => Engine See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine.

Remove heat shield from steering gear - arrows -.
