3 Series E46 316i (M43TU) SAL
Rotate engine from position of 45
°
before TDC in direction of
rotation to TDC position.
Secure crankshaft in TDC position with special tool 11 2 300.
Caution!
Remove special tool 11 2 300 before starting engine.
Caution!
Open-end wrench can slip off tensioning rail.
Slowly and carefully push back tensioning rail with open-end
wrench, fit chain wheel with chain.
Note:
Arrow on chain wheel in cylinder axis points upwards; align
elongated holes in center.
Fit sensor gear, arrow (1) on sensor gear points upwards in
cylinder axis.
Install screws and tighten down chain wheel.
Tightening Torque,
refer to Technical Data 11 31 3AZ.
Remove special tools 11 2 300 and 11 3 190.
Assemble engine.
