3 Series E46 318i (M43TU) SAL
Installation:
Check adapter sleeves (1) for damage and correct
installation position.
Installation:
Rotate balancing shafts until centering bores point downwards
in cylinder axis.
Locate balancing shafts in position with special tool
11 6 270.
Correct backlash with new spacer rings.
Caution!
Only spacer rings of the same dimensions may be installed on
both sides.
Installation:
Replace bolts, tighten down bolts in sequence 1 ... 6.
Tightening Torque,
refer to Technical Data 11 27 1AZ.
Remove special tool 11 6 270.
For checking purposes, measure backlash again with special
tool 11 6 250 at TDC, at 120
°
and at 240
°
. Add the three
backlash readings together and divide by three to obtain the mean
backlash.
Mean backlash,
refer to Technical Data.
