Pin No. refers to numbering on control unit.
Pin No. 9 (black-green) = Glow plug for cyl. 1
Pin No. 8 (black-violet) = Glow plug for cyl. 2
Pin No. 7 (black-yellow) = Glow plug for cyl. 3
Pin No. 3 (black-red) = Glow plug for cyl. 4
Pin No. 2 (black-white) = Glow plug for cyl. 5
Pin No. 1 (black-brown) = Glow plug for cyl. 6
Caution!
Do not operate glow plugs when removed! It is not possible to
ensure that heat will dissipate correctly from glow plugs!
Danger of injury and fire!
Checking with Beru Quick Tester (refer to BMW Parts Service).
Disconnect plug-in connection on control unit.
Connect red lead (1) of tester on battery positive.
Connect blue lead (2) of tester on battery earth.
Install test lead (special tool 61 1 473) on plug pin of glow plug
to be tested. Connect black lead of tester on test lead.
Note:
Pin allocation, refer to circuit diagram.
Wait until red light lights up. Tester is ready for test.
Push start button of tester. Green light lights up.
Needle in green zone:
-
Glow plug is OK.
Needle in red zone:
-
Glow plug is faulty.
Test time: approx. 12 seconds.
Test completed:
-
Red light lights up.
Continue with next glow plug.
