Throttle Body And Heater

Throttle Body Identification

REMOVAL:

1.

Remove the air inlet duct.

2.

Disconnect the ISC and TPS electrical connectors.

3.

Disconnect the vacuum lines.  Note the position of each line.

4.

Disconnect the throttle, TV and cruise control cables.

5.

Remove the four throttle body retaining bolts.

6.

Remove the throttle body and gasket(s) from the upper intake manifold and/or throttle heater.  Discard the gasket.

7.

Clean the gasket surface on the upper manifold, throttle heater and throttle body assembly.

INSTALLATION:

1.

Install the new flange gasket.

2.

Install the throttle body and the four throttle body attaching bolts and tighten to 20 N-m (15 lb. ft.).

3.

Connect the throttle, TV and cruise control cables.

4.

Connect the vacuum lines.

5.

Connect the ISC and TPS electrical connectors.

6.

Install the air inlet duct.

THROTTLE BODY CLEANING PROCEDURE:

1.

Remove the air intake duct from the throttle body.

2.

Clean the primary throttle bore and the area behind and around the throttle plate using a clean shop towel with GM Top Engine Cleaner (Part No.
1052626) or AC-Delco Carburetor Tune-Up Conditioner (Part No. X66-P) or equivalent.
