Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair
On-Vehicle Service

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.  
2. Place a drain pan under the power steering fluid reservoir.
3. Siphon the power steering fluid from the reservoir to prevent excessive spillage.
4. Remove the power steering pump pulley. 

5. Remove the gear inlet hose connection from the power steering pump. 
6. Remove the fluid reservoir inlet hose clamp. 
7. Remove the fluid reservoir inlet hose from the power steering pump.
8. Raise and support the vehicle.

9. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket bolts. 

10. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket.
11. Remove the power steering pump bolts. Remove the power steering pump.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install the power steering pump.
2. Install the power steering pump bolts.

NOTICE:  Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners
requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use
paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint
clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid
damage to parts and systems.

Tighten the power steering pump bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).

3. Install the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket.
4. Install the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket bolts.

Tighten the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
