Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left (LS6)
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield.
2. Remove the left bank coil assembly.
3. Remove the left bank spark plugs.
4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
5. Remove the left catalytic converter.
6. Disconnect the center steering shaft from the lower steering shaft. Separate the shafts and position aside to provide a removal envelope for the
manifold.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts.
9. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
10. Remove the exhaust manifold, bolts, and gasket. Discard the gasket.
11. Remove the heat shield from the manifold, if required.
12. Clean and inspect the exhaust manifold.
Installation Procedure
Important: Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts as specified in the service procedure. Improperly installed and/or leaking exhaust manifold gaskets
may effect vehicle emissions and/or On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) II system performance.
The cylinder head exhaust manifold bolt hole threads must be cleaned and free of debris or thread-locking material.
