6. New boot clamp ( 19 ) onto rack and pinion boot ( 20 ).
7. Apply grease to inner tie rod ( 18 ) or ( 48 ) and housing ( 1 ) as shown prior to boot installation.
Boot ( 20 ) onto inner tie rod ( 18 ) or ( 48 ) and up to housing ( 1 ).
8. Align breather tube ( 34 ) with mark made during removal, elbow of boot ( 20 ) to breather tube ( 34 ).
9. Boot ( 20 ) onto housing ( 1 ) until seated in housing groove with breather tube in elbow of boot ( 20 ).
Important: After installation, boot ( 20 ) must not be twisted or puckered.
10. Position boot clamp ( 19 ) on boot ( 20 ) and crimp as shown.
11. Position tie rod end clamp ( 31 ) with pliers on boot ( 20 ).
12. Hex jam nut ( 21 ) to inner tie rod assembly ( 18 ) or ( 48 ).
