Rack damper screw to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
Measuring Pinion Rotational Resistance

Pinion rotational resistance using a torque wrench and J 34871-A. Pinion Statical resistance should be 1.0 - 15 Nm (8.85 - 15.93 inch lbs.).
If observed torque is greater than specification, back off the rack damper screw until specified torque is achieved (up to 90° or 1/4 turn). If
observed pinion rotational torque is less than specification, tighten the plunger damper screw until specification is reached.
C. After adjusting pinion, install rack damper screw cap as deeply as possible.
7. Tie rods to rack:
Installing Tie Rod To Rack
A. Install the right and left tie rods to rack, positioning lock washers in between.
B. Align flats on washers with flats on rack.
Tighten

Each inside tie rod ball nut to 70 Nm (51 ft. lbs.).
