Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber: Service and Repair
Front Suspension
Remove or Disconnect
Raise the vehicle and support it with safety stands.
1. Nut.

Hold the shock absorber stem with a wrench while backing the nut off.
2. Retainer.
3. Grommet.
4. Bolts.
a. Pull the shock absorber out from below.
b. Lower grommet and retainer are on the stem.
c. Replace parts as necessary.
5. Nuts, if damaged or worn.
Install or Connect
1. Retainer and grommet on the stem.

Fully extend the stem.
2. Shock absorber up through the lower control arm and spring.

Insert the stem end through the hole in the upper control arm frame bracket.
3. Grommet to the stem.
4. Retainer to the stem.
5. Nut.

Tighten nut to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.) while holding the stem with a wrench.
6. New nuts, if needed.
7. Bolts through pivot holes to the lower control arm holes.

Tighten bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
Lower the vehicle.
