16. Remove the brake cable from the equalizer.
17. Pull the parking brake cable from the welded bracket near the equalizer.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the parking brake cable through the brake backing plate. Attach the parking brake cable to the brake shoe lever.
2. Insert the plastic sleeve into the brake backing plate and press in the retaining ring. Make sure the parking brake cable is routed correctly.
3. If the brake shoe lever was pressed backward before removing the brake drum, press it forward.
4. Install the brake drums.

For the ABS braking system (shown), install the detent screw.

For the non-ABS braking system, install the brake drums by fastening the castle nut and the split pin.
Tighten
Tighten the rear brake drum detent screw (ABS) to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.).
