Throttle Body: Service and Repair
Throttle Body Replacement

REMOVAL

Throttle Body Removal And Replacement

1.

Fuel system pressure release must be performed prior to service.  See: Fuel Filter/Fuel Pressure Release/Service and Repair

2.

Disconnect negative battery terminal, and remove air cleaner hose clamp to throttle body.  Remove the nut holding the air cleaner assembly to the
air cleaner bracket.  Remove the air cleaner assembly.

3.

Remove throttle cable, speed control cables, and transaxle linkage.  See: Accelerator Cable/Service and Repair

4.

Disconnect the following electrical connectors:

Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

^

Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) motor

5.

Disconnect the vacuum lines from the throttle body.

6.

Remove throttle body mounting bolts (2) and lift throttle body off of intake plenum.

7.

Discard old intake gasket.

INSTALLATION

1.

Clean the throttle body and intake manifold mounting surface.

2.

Using a new gasket, install the throttle body onto the intake manifold, and tighten the mounting bolts.

3.

Connect the throttle body vacuum hoses.

4.

Connect the following electrical connectors:

Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

^

Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) motor

5.

Attach throttle cable, speed control cables, and transaxle linkage.  See: Accelerator Cable/Service and Repair

6.

Connect the negative battery cable.

7.

Perform fuel system pressure test to check for leaks.  See: Fuel Pressure/Testing and Inspection/Fuel Pressure Leak Down Test

8.

Install the nut that holds the air cleaner bracket to the air cleaner assembly, and attach the inlet hose to the air cleaner and throttle body.
