Fitting and adjusting rack support bearing

NOTE The shim thickness is determined without the spring and ring.

The adjustment is carried out using washers placed between the steering box casing and the cover for the rack support bearing. The thickness of the shims needed is found by adding to 0.13 mm corresponding to the clearance between the rack support bearing and the cover to distance Y. The washers are supplied in the following sizes: 0.10 and 0.15 mm.

NOTE After fitting the steering box, the toraue necessary to start the pinion rotating must be between 130 and 210 Ncm (13.25 ÷ kgcm).
